So last week we took a look at predicting the lower divisions of sumo wrestling covering the bottom Jonokuchi all the way to the top of the non-salaried ranks, Makushita. As promised, I’m making good progress on the infrastructure related to Banzuke prediction and testing how well those predictions work and as a result I’m able to share a full Banzuke covering every wrestler who participated in Haru ‘23. That’s 596 wrestlers by my count!
I'll see if I can get that handled for next Banzuke but it's a bit tough just because I can't embed tables so formatting would be liable to get even funkier. But yeah, it's a good idea and I promise I'll look into it!
Thank you! Going beyond the numbers and using my (bad) sense, I feel Takerufuji probably would be Maegashira ~5 at highest but the predicted 8W is probably closer to right and he'll be in 6W/7E towards the bottom of the top 25 ranked wrestlers. Onosato looks correct (again to my untrained eye) where he'll be in the top ~10 or so probably right after Asanoyama so I think it's right there.
You should come post this on Bluesky, there’s a small-but-growing sumo community there that would appreciate it.
Thank you! Any recommendations how/where to post? I know of Bluesky but never been myself
Can you post with the record as well? e.g.
68 Yoshii Ko Ms22w 6-1 J13w

This is great, thanks for crunching all these numbers. Very interested to see where Takerufuji and Onosato land.
